Melissa A. Gates, D.V.M., Hospital Director
Dr. Gates is a 1980 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been the owner of Cordova Veterinary Hospital since 1987. She has a special interest in dentistry, and has been a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society since 1990. Dr. Gates is also active in local and state veterinary associations, serving as president and treasurer of the Sacramento Valley Veterinary Medical Association. She recently completed the Don Low/CVMA Practitioner Fellowship in Small Animal Internal Medicine at U.C.Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
When not working with her patients, she spends time with her husband John, son Eric as well as their Standard Poodle (Jazz) and Springer Spaniels (Crash & Dug).

Tracy Alexander, B.S., D.V.M.
Dr. Alexander grew up in Riverside, California, but has happily made Northern California her home for the past 11 years. She is twice a graduate of University of California, Davis, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology in 2003 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010. Following graduation, she worked at VCA Gateway Animal Hospital in Anderson before joining the Cordova Veterinary Hospital team in 2011. Dr. Alexander’s interests include emergency medicine, general practice, and establishing long-term relationships with her clients. When not taking care of animals, Dr. Alexander and her husband, Matt, love to travel, go fishing, and backpack in the Trinity Alps. They currently reside in Davis with their four cats.

Stephanie Plucker, B.S., D.V.M.
Dr. Plucker received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 from the the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She has two dobermans and four cats. She also works with Animal Assisted Therapy as well as Lend a Heart.

Lori Thomas, B.S., D.V.M.
Dr. Thomas received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2001 from California State University Hayward and is a 2006 graduate of the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked as an associate veterinarian at Cordova Veterinary Hospital since 2006. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, she worked as a registered veterinary technician (RVT) for 10 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is originally from Utah and has lived in California for over 20 years.
Dr. Thomas and her spouse Chris enjoy bicycling along the American River Parkway and mountain biking. They share a house with a menagerie of cats.

Kendall Younger, B.S., D.V.M.
Kendall Younger grew up in San Diego, CA. She studied photography at Sarah Lawrence College in New York and zoology at the University of Washington in Seattle. After graduating from veterinary school at the University of California, Davis in 2008, Dr. Younger completed a postgraduate surgery and medicine internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. She then worked for two years at a general practice and emergency hospital in Los Angeles before moving back up to beautiful Northern California and joining the staff at Cordova Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Younger's special interests include surgery, emergency, and general practice. She enjoys developing good long-term client relationships and keeping pets happy and healthy! Dr. Younger's family includes her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Rory, and two cats, Joey and Fiona.

Steve Harnagel, B.S., D.V.M., DACVR (Radiology)
Dr. Harnagel was born and raised in southern California before attending UC Davis where he received a Bachelor's degree in Zoology in 1976 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. In 1987, he completed his residency in Radiology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, UC Davis and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 1987.

John Robertson, B.S., D.V.M., DACVS (Surgery)
Dr. Roberston attended UC Davis and received his Bacholar of Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1975. He did a residency and taught veterinary surgery at the University of Missouri, Columbia from 1980-87 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1987. Dr Robertson is one of the few surgeons in Northern California that is certified to perform TPLO (advanced anterior cruciate repair) surgeries. Dr Robertson's interests are advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

Lori Siemens, D.V.M., DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Siemens received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis in 1992. She completed an internsip in small animal medicine in 1993 and a residency in Cardiology in 1995. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine with a specialty in Cardiology in 1996. She has been providing caridology services for dogs and cats since then. Dr. Siemens started mobile cardiology services a year ago and is happy to be providing cardiology services to the patients of Cordova Veterinary Hospital. (http://www.healinhearts.net)
